Every creation is my personal diary to the great mystery.
My distinct love of colour expands over many personal and cultural influences such as the simplicity of nature to sacred geometry and my own childhood memories. I use pop abstract expressionism to depict umbilical-like patterns of life-affirming colours. I mix fluorescent pinks, oranges and bold monochromes together, witnessing how they twist and turn, mould, seep and intertwine on giant canvases for surprising outcomes. Celebrating this flow of unconsciousness, I allow myself to discover the harmony and order within the chaos of life. I bring order to radical and free forms, like solving a jigsaw puzzle.
Most of my art is generated from a simple dot. I call it the belly button, a visual reminder of being severed from our universal mother while remaining connected to the cosmic dream cord.
I work in many creative fields, from film to performance and stand-alone artworks. I have a wide range of expressions including multi multimedia platforms, creating animated and original pieces out of organic and inorganic materials such as thread, yarn, paint, wood and ready-made artefacts.
My latest endeavor is the exciting language of Textiles. I tuft yarn onto material creating works that are rich in texture, colour and give a third dimension to the flat surface. Viewers are drawn to touch and feel the image and I see the joy it emanates.
As a creative, I choose to rejoice in the extraordinary within the everyday ordinary. Playtime becomes sacred. This is where I feel whole and how I can serve my art without borders and confinements. Accepting the great mystery is simple…I am the dream.
I would also like to thank the ones who have inspired me along my journey… Such vibrant artists as Joana Vasconcelos and Nikki Saint Phalle with their wild, imaginative and colourful installations along with the pure grandeur and painted works of Julian Schnabel.
